Sara Bell Buchanon

Sara Bell Hemphill-Buchanon entered into eternal rest on June 18, 2019 in Newark, NJ.  She was born in Long Branch, NJ on April 18,1940 to the late Oscar Sr. and Gladys Hemphill.  Sara graduated from Red Bank High School and then went on to attend Essex County College where she majored in theater.  Sara worked many jobs. Her sincere compassion for others lead her to a fulfilling career as a Home Health Aid which she brilliantly performed for many years until her retirement.  Sara’s dedication and bravery granted her many certifications and awards.

Sara was preceded in death by her loving parents, Oscar Sr. and Gladys, brother, Oscar Jr. Hemphill, Ronald Hemphill, and sister Barbara Walton.

Sara leaves to mourn, her loving companion of over 20 years, Andre McKever. She is also survived by her sons, Milton Buchanon (Valeria), Bruce Buchanon (Jacqueline), Terry and Anthony Buchanon, and Nathan Clark, her daughters,  her 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, her sister Marie Hemphill, sister in law Joyce Hemphill and host of nieces, nephews and friends.
