Rafael Maloon Rymer Obituary

In Memory of Rafael Ernesto Maloon Rymer

October 25, 1937 - February 21, 2026

Rafael Ernesto Maloon passed away peacefully and entered the gates of Heaven on February 21, 2026. He was born in Sanchez, Dominican Republic, to Manuel Maloon and Ana Rymer.

Rafael was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family very much. He is survived by his beloved wife, Altemia DeMaloon; his daughters, Ruth Maloon, Deborah Maloon, Ana Maloon, and Dorka Maloon; his grandchildren, Viannis Almonte, Patricia Erazo, and Victor Almonte; and his great-grandchildren, Elijah Silva and Adan Cabrera, his brother Manuel Cecilio Maloon and countless adopted children and grandchildren.

For most of his life in the Dominican Republic, Rafael worked as a construction worker. On April 5th, 1968, he married the love of his life, Altemia Rosario and together they had four daughters. In 1984, Rafael and his wife migrated to the United States where their home represented a safe place for family and friends to come together.

Although he was not a man of many words, when he spoke, everyone listened; his words held great value. He was the head of our  household and an important patriarch of the Maloon family. He shared love for over 50 years with his beautiful wife, laughed, and created countless memories with his daughters, supported his grandchildren in their dreams, and always had open arms for his great-grandchildren. His family extended beyond his immediate relatives to include friends who visited his home and his church family at Open Arms Worship Center. There, he served as a deacon for many years. He will always be remembered for his favorite coritos "Como la viuda” and “A que tu no sabes lo que en Damasco pasó.”

He was loved by many, and we know his memory will always live in our hearts. We will miss his words, his laughter, and his presence, but we take comfort in knowing he is with the Lord.

His funeral service will be held on March 9, 2026, from 5 to 9 PM at Villa Americas in Newark, NJ. The viewing will be at 9 AM, followed by burial at Arlington Cemetery at 11 AM on March 10, 2026.

He will forever be in our hearts! We will miss you dearly and love you, dear husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and great friend.

Te extrañaremos profundamente y te amaremos, querido esposo, padre, abuelo, bisabuelo, hermano, tío y gran amigo.
