Marie Antonette Griffith

The sun rose and the world welcomed Marie Antonette Griffith on February 10, 1960, to Jeremy Travis,
Dorethea and Leroy Griffith. She lived much of her life in Newark, NJ and later moved to Atlanta, GA
where she shared a happy life with her partner Leroy Thompson and beloved dog Sophie.
“Toni” spent most of her free time cooking meals with the love she exuded to everyone who knew how
special she was and remains. She was full of light and joy, traits that were obvious to all after even just a
single meeting with Toni. 
Toni lived an amazing and warm life filled with generosity.  She would do anything for her family and
friends and loved fiercely. Toni will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
On Sunday March 17, 2024, Toni Griffith took her last breath in Elizabeth, NJ with her son by her side.
Our family is grateful to know that Toni is finally at peace. Toni was predeceased by her father Leroy G.
Griffith; grandmother, Ruth Griffith; uncle Joe Griffith and brother, Gary Griffith.
 
She is survived by her mother, Dorethea Griffith; father, Jeremy Travis; son, Michael Griffith and
daughter-in-law Dominique Hall; sisters, Rosalyn Johnson and Valerie Griffith; brothers, Gregory Griffith
and Michael Griffith; her brother-in-law, Allen Johnson; two nieces Alise Amos and Shanell Johnson;
nephew, Denzel Johnson; grandson, De’shun Griffith and his sister Lyrik; great nieces and nephew,
Masiah, Karsyn and Kasai; cousin GiGi and best friend Yvonne Robinson. She is also survived by many
other relatives and close friends and will be missed more than words say.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral services on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Villa Americas Funeral Home located at (279 Roseville Avenue Newark, NJ 07107)
